About Us

Offender Aid and Restoration (OAR) is a non-profit organization based in Charlottesville, VA.

We believe in second chances and helping individuals lead successful lives.

Our goals

  • To provide safe, evidence-based and cost-effective alternatives to incarceration for Central Virginia.

  • To offer pretrial investigation/supervision, community corrections, speciality courts and dockets, and reentry services.

  • To work together for a safer community one person at a time.

  • To provide a network of transitional and reentry services targeted to the offender population to reduce the barriers to successful reintegration into the community.

  • To advocate for criminal justice reform and educate the public about the challenges and opportunities of reentry.

For clients

Please contact us immediately upon referral by the Court or release from incarceration. Please bring all Court paperwork, photo ID and proof of residence to your first appointment.

Criminal Justice Planner

Every 3 months the Community Criminal Justice Board (CCJB) holds meetings where they discuss the latest trends in crime and incarceration, and new legal frameworks that they are going to use to enhance long-term public safety goals.

Community and Education

We provide reports and research that help legal practitioners make better decisions.

We have more than 35 reports including annual reports, crime trends, health reports, risk reports, etc.
